== Haunting / Legend Summary == The Calico Lady legend tells of a ghostly old woman, recognizable by her connection to a large number of cats that gathered around her former home. * According to local accounts, the Calico Lady’s house stood along Old Lafferty Road and was easily identifiable by the cats that roamed the property. * The spirit of a three-fingered elderly woman is said to haunt the site where her house once stood, as well as the surrounding area near Chicken Hollow. * In the 1970s, local teenagers reportedly visited the road at night and called her name—“Calico Lady”—three times, prompting the ghost to appear or “chase” them. * Even after the house was demolished, reports persisted of ghostly cats and the distant sound of meowing near the intersection. * Some claim to have seen the apparition sitting on a bridge at the corner of Old Lafferty Road and Chicken Hollow.
