== Haunting / Legend Summary == According to local legend, Daniel Bender’s ghost has been seen walking near the area where he was murdered in 1836. Specific claims include: * A man matching Bender’s description stopping travelers and offering ominous warnings. * A story of a young father attempting to rush his ill daughter to a doctor, only to be stopped by Bender’s ghost who predicted the girl would not survive the night—she did not. * Horses allegedly refuse to tread near the area. The haunting is generally reported along the historic route Bender traveled, particularly between what is now Heckert Park and Seccaium Park, near the former town site of Olentangy, Ohio.
